We are so please to be back in business just two weeks since Sandy. Our original estimates were that we could be down for as long as 6 weeks but our hard work and dedication to our customers has paid off. Although our office is still gutted, our warehouse is clean and dry. The inventory has been replenished and new computers have been set up for picking and packing orders. Customer Service is also fully operational, working in a makeshift call center until the office is repaired. It feels good to be taking and shipping order again.
On October 29th, what would normally have been be the final push of our busy season, we were hit by the worst storm in New Jersey’s history, Sandy. Within 24 hours, two high tides sent rushing inland, causing record flooding. Our location in the industrial park made matters worse. Since we are right along the marshes in the rear of the park, we were the first to get hit by flood waters and the last place for the waters to recede.
Below are pictures that we took last week. Boy have we come a long way! Today, the warehouse is dry, brightly lit as as clean as a warehouse can be. Our forklifts have been busy taking our fresh inventory from the top shelves and replenishing it where soaking wet costumes were just a week ago. The office is bare, awaiting new drywall and carpet. We hope to be back in our “new” office within two weeks.
