Go Gothic!

April 9, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Masked Molly

One of my favorite costume themes is going Gothic. The term Gothic is usually used to refer to a literary style of fiction common in the late 18th and early 19th century. It emphasized the grotesque and especially the mysterious, which is why it is appealing to me. I love anything mysterious.

April 6, 2009 in General Costumes by Masked Molly

Costumes that include realistic blood or scars can be particularly scary. How do you make blood and scars look real?

Wild and Witchy

March 26, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Masked Molly

Most people who dress in costumes will choose to be a witch sooner or later. If you want to be a witch for your next event, which witch should you be? Should you be a good witch or a bad witch?

Don’t you love dressing in matching couples costumes? There are so many possibilities. For one thing, it’s not too often you show up at a party in couples costumes when people can’t figure out who you are. I mean chances are, if they can’t tell who you’re supposed to be, they can figure out who your date is supposed to be, and then it all makes sense to them.

Love Those Animal Costumes

March 20, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Masked Molly

Close your eyes and imagine that you could be any animal that you wanted to be. What would you choose?

Costumes are a blast, because they allow you to act out some of these fantasies. You can completely turn yourself not only into a different person, but into a different form of life altogether.

Have Fun Clowning Around

March 3, 2009 in General Costumes by Masked Molly

One of the easiest and most fun characters to assume is a clown. Don’t you love turning yourself into someone colorful that makes people happy? It doesn’t take a ton of creativity or time to become a clown. It’s a great choice for a costume party, and it’s also an easy way to entertain small children at a birthday party or church festival. Best of all, you get to be someone that makes other people happy.

The Magic of Makeup

February 27, 2009 in General Costumes by Masked Molly

I’ve always been fascinated with makeup and how quickly a person can be transformed by using it properly. Did you ever see photo shots of Hollywood actresses without their makeup? It’s kind of shocking. We’re so used to the transformation each actress has created that we forget how plain many of them are without it.

Wonderful Wigs

February 26, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Masked Molly

One of the easiest tools for self-transformation is a wig. I like to choose a wig first when I’m putting together a costume. I mean, as soon as you put on a wig, you start to look like someone else.

Five Reasons to Dress Up Your Pet

February 24, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Masked Molly

Should you put your pet in costume? I’m sure there are arguments both for and against dressing up your pet, but as a costume-lover, I happen to believe that you should dress up your pet. Of course, you have to consider the personality of your own pet. Some are more reserved than others. Some spend their lives hiding under the bed and avoiding people. But for the most part, I think dressing up pets is great.
