Yo Gabba Gabba Costumes Delight Kids and Parents Too

For those of you without children under 4 years old, Yo Gabba Gabba is a television show for preschoolers on Nick, Jr.  This show is insanely popular and their following is near cult-like. It reminds me of the Teletubbie phenomena when my daughter was a baby.

The show is educational and entertaining. Children love the simplicity, repetition and catchy music; parents love the retro style and celebrity guest appearances from stars like Surgarland, Tony Hawk and The Killers.

Yo Gabba Gabba has such an influence on children that even parents cannot help but love it. In fact, the Jolie-Pitt clan must be huge fans because even Brad Pitt dressed up as DJ Lance last Halloween. You really have to love your children (and have a great sense of humor) to do that! Hopefully there are more dad’s out there who’ll wear Halloween costumes like this for their kids. Way to go,  Brad!!!

If you are not familiar with Yo Gabba Gabba here is the low down on the characters for which we have costumes:

  • DJ Lance is the host and narrator of Yo Gabba Gabba. He lives in Gabbaland and loves to play music. Why Heidi Klum Should Wear Costumes in Bed

The news is spreading regarding Heidi Klum’s admission in Cosmopolitan’s May issue that she doesn’t see the need to wear sexy costumes in the bedroom. Several blogs have commented on this revelation. That’s unfortunate, Heidi. We respectfully disagree. We think you should wear sexy costumes in bed…often!

On one hand, we’re really glad that your private life is still spicy even with four children and a busy schedule. How could it not be spicy? I mean look at you two. No wonder you walk around the house naked! But on the other hand, sexy costumes are fun. The purpose of sexy costumes isn’t to replace something that’s missing from your sex life but to enhance an already “spicy” sex life. It’s a way of saying I’m so comfortable with my partner that I can act out a fantasy or take on an alter ego just for the pure pleasure and excitement it brings us both.”

So Heidi, if your sex life is fresh and exciting then it’s the perfect time to add sexy costumes. By the time sex becomes boring, sexy costumes may be too much effort and seem forced. By then you’re better off spending your money on a bigger TV and a cable upgrade because you’ll need it.

As for sexy costume choices, the Heidi Ho Beer Girl costume might be too obvious (don’t look at us, it came with that name) but there are many others to choose from. The Top 10 Humorous Costumes for an R-rated Halloween

When you think of Halloween your first thought is probably of little girls and boys dressed in princess and superhero costumes trick-or-treating from door to door but actually, dollar for dollar, adult costumes outsell children’s costumes. What does this tell us? That for as much as Halloween is a children’s holiday, grown-ups love a reason to party.

The adult costume market is huge. It includes every genre that you’ll find for kids but adds categories for sexy costumes and my favorite, humorous costumes — adult humor that is.  The R-rated adult costumes are so funny! Some are obviously dirty but most create a visual double entendre that puts them right up my ally (get your mind out of the gutter – by “up my ally” I’m saying that I like them). I’m an intelligent adult who is not ashamed to say that I appreciate raunchy bathroom humor and sexual innuendo.  So if you’re like me, and I know you are, you’ll appreciate the entire adult humorous costume category.  Here are my top ten picks in no particular order.

Clash of the Titans Costumes Bring Greek Mythology to Life

Clash of the Titans is coming out tomorrow and everyone in my family is really looking forward to seeing it.  As with the much anticipated movie release, we are equally excited about the Clash of the Titans costumes. It’s a chance for use to share with our children something that was a memorable part of our childhoods. Allow me to explain.

 

Everyone in my family loves Greek mythology. A strange thing to like you might say but oddly, it was a big part of our childhood. We all went to a small Catholic Elementary school and had a 5th grade teacher who was insane over Greek Mythology. You’d think 10-11 years old would be a bit young to delve into the Iliad and the Odyssey or that it’s a bit strange for Greek mythology to be taught in Catholic school but don’t tell that to Mrs. Casey. Greek Mythology was so much a part of the entire 5th and 6th grades that we even had our own intramural Greek Olympics and the school plays were always based on myths so actually, I was exposed to Greek mythology since the first grade.  Ironically, I was in the 6th grade when the original Clash of the Titan’s movie was made. I was excited to see that one and will happily see this one too.

Clash of the Titans tells the story of Perseus, the half-mortal son Zeus who embarks on a mission to stop Hades, the god of the underworld from wreaking havoc on the universe. Battling evil demons and hideous beasts, Perseus’ only chance of survival is to realize his power as a god and accept is new destiny.

The Clash of the Titans costumes depict men in their finest form, muscular and brave; beasts in their most hideous deformity and women in their most feminine allure. The Perseus costume features an armor covered tunic with matching wrist guards and leg guards. It has a sword and shield that are sold separately. The costume of Calibos, the once human, but how hideous beast is perfected by the well crafted mask that is also available. The Athena costume is so beautiful with is gold detailing and high slit gown. Greek costumes have always been favorites of mine and Clash of the Titans costumes are no exception.
