I had to act quickly, so I picked up the phone to call Inspector Edward Yates at Scotland Yard. Without my car, I would not make it to the face to face interview. As I spoke to Inspector Yates, I looked down at the sleeves of my blouse and noticed that there were blood smears on the forearms and on my hands. I dropped the phone to the floor as I let out a bellowing scream.

I Spy Something…

June 23, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Mascarade Marla

Ever wonder what it would be like to be a secret agent? How fun would it be to be one for the day? What harm could it do; as long as you don’t break the law or put yourself in real danger? After all, you’re pretending, so your undercover work and spying needs to be as make believe as your day’s career.

Feel the hot sand grains oozing between your toes as you walk. The sun is just setting on the horizon above the ocean and a shadow falls across the water giving it a romantic appeal. It’s a warm night in Hawaii and beads of sweat are trickling down your back. The water is enticing you just as the drum beats begin to sound, echoing across the water all the way to the moon and back to your feet. You begin to move them, slowly at first, then the fervor picks up and you are in full dance. It’s your first Hawaiian Luau and you are going to party tonight.

Rodeo Days Bring Back Fond Memories of my Youth

June 11, 2009 in Costume Adventures by Ren Faire Reese

Last night I took a nostalgic trip back into the days of my youth where one memory stood out above all the others. My heart tugged with fondness as I thought about dear Mom. She loved the rodeo and she took us to the fair any time she could. Our family was simple country folks. Mom was more western than most, though she never traveled further than Ohio in those early years. The rodeo was born into my mother’s blood and I learned to love the show as much as Mom.

If you have heard fairy tales as young child, chances are those same stories bring back feelings of enchantment to you every time you think back to those days. Little children are probably the closest thing to angels here on earth. When I think about occasions for which I would dress as an angel or dress a child as one, a special cause comes to mind. The search for a cure for childhood leukemia is very close to my heart.   I would consider it an honor to dress many little angels to inspire donations to save lives. My fundraiser would be for finding a cure and alternative means of treatment for leukemia.
